Ben & John Kimminau founded Kimminau Floor Company because they are control freaks. It’s true. The brothers found that when they worked for someone else, they couldn’t control the level of quality that was delivered and that was just not acceptable. In fact, it drove them crazy.
Blame it on their parents. John remembers his mom constantly “nagging” him about attention to detail, and luckily, some things parents tell their children stick. (This is proof to all parents that nagging is an effective child rearing tool.)
Pride came from their dad’s constant reminder that a job worth doing is a job worth doing right. So Ben and John decided to start their own hardwood flooring company. They had the skills and they had the control they desired. They knew they were going to do the kind of work they would be proud of, so they might as well give the company a name they were proud of too – their name. So Kimminau Floor Company was born.
